JUNIOR REFEREE TRAINING.

As a result of a request by the Tasmanian Junior Development Officer, Warren Ross, to provide a Junior Billiards and Snooker referee's training course, I have commenced training two Junior players. They are Jeremy Cowie and Luke Webb.

Both these juniors are already very fine players, with heaps of potential, and are more than holding there own in the senior competition. They also performed very well in the recent 2007 Tasmanian Snooker Championships. They are now well into their referee training and, in my opinion, have the potential to become very good referees in the years to come. With practice they will develop their confidence and experience.

At the end of their training, when they feel ready, they will undergo a Billiards and Snooker rules examination followed by a practical assessment in charge of a 1-hour game of Billiards and 5 frames of Snooker. I have no doubt both Jeremy and Luke will pass with flying colours. When they do they will have the distinction of becoming, not only the first Junior referees in Australia, but also in Oceania.
